Capital buffers for UK's 'other systemically important' firms under consultation

( March 28, 2025, 16:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Capital requirements on financial firms considered systemically important for the UK's domestic economy but not necessarily for the global economy are under consultation by the Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee, which leads financial stability work for the central bank's supervisory arm, the Prudential Regulation Authority. The update for these "other systemically important institutions" would see the buffer based on cumulative growth in nominal gross domestic product of 20 percent between 2019 and 2023 to ensure the framework reflects the original risk appetite. It would avoid more firms than necessary being captured by more stringent requirements. The consultation is open until May 30.Consultation is attached....
