UK finance, DLT firms asked for input on 'digital gilt' technology options

( March 18, 2025, 10:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A consultation on the launch of a pilot "digital gilt" instrument using distributed ledger technology has been published by the UK finance ministry and the UK Debt Management Office. Gilts are UK government bonds issued to help finance public spending. Potential DLT suppliers and financial firms and investors have been asked what technology options are available to facilitate an issuance of digital gilts, the scope of services that may need to be procured, investor preferences and how it can be designed to stimulate wider adoption of DLT infrastructure across UK capital markets.
