UK financial watchdog seeks views on removing the GBP100 contactless limit

( March 14, 2025, 09:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Financial Conduct Authority is seeking views about removing or increasing the contactless transactions limit, arguing it would benefit economic growth. UK contactless retail payments can be made without additional authentication, such as a PIN, up to 100 pounds in a single transaction. The watchdog said it's considering removing or increasing the limit given improvements in fraud-detecting technologies. "Making regulation less prescriptive would also give firms greater control and could promote innovative payment methods or fraud prevention solutions," the FCA said.   Statement follows and engagement paper is attached....
