UK financial firms consulted on rise in retail deposits leverage ratio

( March 5, 2025, 10:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK financial firms have been asked for feedback from the Bank of England's Prudential Regulation Authority on an increase of 20 billion pounds to the retail deposits leverage ratio threshold. The PRA is proposing to raise the threshold to 70 billion pounds to reflect nominal gross domestic product growth since 2016. Sam Woods, the PRA's chief executive, said: “Guarding against excessive leverage in our banking system is essential for economic stability, but we should achieve that in a proportionate way." The call for feedback closes on June 5. News release and consultation are attached....
