Banco BPM ready to drop ‘Danish compromise’ condition for Anima acquisition

( February 12, 2025, 12:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Italian lender Banco BPM has obtained shareholder authorization to waive some of the conditions it put forward when announcing its intention to buy all the shares of asset manager Anima. This means that Banco BPM could pursue its buyout, even if it doesn't get the favorable treatment in terms of capital requirements (the "Danish compromise") that it requested from the European Central Bank. Completion of the deal is pivotal for Banco BPM, which hopes it will provide it with the size needed to fight a hostile acquisition attempt by UniCredit.Press release is attached.
