Law firm settles with UK FCA over work on Ponzi-like investment

( January 24, 2025, 17:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK’s financial services watchdog said it reached a confidential settlement with Lupton Fawcett, a law firm, over its role in promoting what the regulator called a “Ponzi-like care home investment scheme.” The FCA had brought a high court claim against Lupton Fawcett alleging it was knowingly concerned with the promotion of the investment schemes operated by the Qualia group. As part of the settlement Lupton Fawcett has not admitted liability though the law firm said it regretted its involvement “with the Qualia group of companies.” Statement below....
