US SEC takes steps to implement 2023 rules on US Treasuries central clearing, Gensler says

( November 25, 2024, 20:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Securities and Exchange Commission has taken steps to ease implementation of its December 2023 rules on customer clearing in the US Treasury market, Chairman Gary Gensler said. Gensler, who has announced plans to step down on Jan. 20, 2025, said separation of house and customer margin must be completed in March 2025. Also, at the end of next year, clearinghouses must require members to clear any Treasury cash trades executed on an inter-dealer platform. Last, in January 2026, final rules require clearinghouses in Treasury markets to ensure their members clear all their repurchase agreement transactions.Statement follows below:...
