Belgian lawyers challenge new anti-money laundering rules at EU court

( November 4, 2024, 11:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Belgian lawyers Robin Messiaen and Ferenc Ballegeer are challenging in court the latest EU rules on money laundering. The legal challenge was brought to the EU’s lower-tier court in August and published today in the bloc's official bulletin. The lawyers argue that several provisions of the new rules should be annulled because of infringements on confidentiality and independence obligations of the legal profession.
