Business Europe: Letter to Commissioner Barnier on Over the Counter Derivatives - Position paper

( February 18, 2011, 13:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Business Europe called for a broader definition of exempt hedging activities, linked to commercial activities rather than accounting, within a bill to require clearing of over-the-counter derivatives trades. In a letter and set of proposals to Commissioner Michel Barnier, the business organisation also called for the measure to avoid requiring intraday collateral management by commercial companies, which would force them to abandon use of derivatives-based hedging techniques, and to exempt transactions between corporate affiliates, among other provisions in the pending legislation.Click the links below for the documents....
