Digital-euro prototyping exercise results published by ECB

( May 30, 2023, 13:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Central Bank has now published the results of a prototyping exercise for a potential future digital euro. The ECB ran the test from July 2022 to February this year, to test potential technologies that could be used for the virtual currency, if issued. In a letter, the ECB's Fabio Panetta said the prototyping was "a learning experiment" and that "the prototypes presented will be discarded and not used further." The ECB has yet to decide whether it will issue a digital euro, and the European Commission will publish legislation next month to establish the legal basis for any such future issue.Report and letter attached. ...
