Freeze on vulnerable customers’ bank accounts is ‘very concerning,’ UK lawmakers say

( July 22, 2021, 11:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Reports that NatWest and other UK banks are freezing vulnerable customers’ accounts are “very concerning,” lawmaker Mel Stride said in a letter to the Financial Conduct Authority’s chief executive today. Stride, who is chair of Parliament’s Treasury Committee, wrote to Nikhil Rathi regarding concerns about lenders freezing accounts for no apparent reason. Rathi was asked to respond to questions including whether this is a widespread problem, why banks have taken this action, and what the FCA will do about it. Statement follows. Letter attached....
