New US PCAOB staff report provides insights on SPAC, de-SPAC audits

( April 19, 2023, 19:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board issued a staff report on special purpose acquisition companies, finding that they have resulted in a relatively high rates of audit deficiencies. According to the report, the PCAOB reviewed 44 SPAC-related audits performed in 2021, 61 percent of which had at least one deficiency, and 71 SPAC-related audits in 2022, 37 percent of which had at least one deficiency.
