Jailed defendants ordered to pay $76 million for foreign currency Ponzi scheme, CFTC says

( July 31, 2015, 21:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Friday said a judge ordered Keith Simmons and his company, Black Diamond Capital Solutions, and Deanna Salazar and her companies, Life Plus Group and Black Diamond Holdings, to pay a total of $76 million in connection with a fraudulent foreign currency exchange scheme. The orders stem from a 2011 CFTC complaint, the agency said. In a related criminal action, Simmons was sentenced to 40 years in prison and ordered to pay $35 million, while Salazar was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison and ordered to pay $5 million.Statement follows in full.
