EU could accept Channel Islands, Swiss hedge funds, not US, Asian managers, ESMA says

( July 30, 2015, 08:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hedge funds and buyout firms from the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey may be suitable for EU-wide marketing, but doubts remain about the US, Hong Kong and Singapore, the European Securities and Markets Authority said. Switzerland also would pass muster by enacting pending rules, ESMA said in advice on whether to grant “passports” to alternative investors from outside the bloc. The EU still should await reviews of more non-member countries before opening up to foreign fund managers, the regulator added in its report to policymakers. The following is the text of the statement.
