Merging EU banks won’t get capital requirements surprise, ECB says

The guide, published today, clarifies how consolidated banks should approach capital requirements and the issue of banks being purchased for less than book value. EU banks looking to merge will not be penalized by higher prudential requirements and will be given an indication of the capital levels the combined lender will need to maintain, the European Central Bank said today....
