UK must 'face hard facts' over Brexit plan to cherrypick EU agency membership, Barnier says

In the European Commission’s first formal response to Prime Minister Theresa May's idea, Michel Barnier told EU lawmakers it had been “surprising” for the UK to think it could ask to participate in some areas of joint regulation, only to later diverge where it presented an advantage.A UK proposal to continue participation in sectors of the EU’s single market for industrial goods can't be allowed, the European Commission has said, as it would allow the country to pick and choose where to seek comparative advantage against the bloc....
