Restoring digital ID legislation must be on new government’s agenda, UK digital lobby says

( July 3, 2024, 12:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Trade bodies and business leaders in the UK have written to the main political parties to ask the next government to bring back the legislation that would establish the fundamentals of digital identification, after this was lost when current prime minister Rishi Sunak called a snap election. The Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework would have defined digital identity and mechanisms for securely sharing consumer and business data, and established a kitemark for digital ID products. As this was included in the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill, it got lost when the DPDI bill wasn't passed before the dissolving of Parliament.
