Banks’ inter-affiliate swaps would no longer require initial margin under US proposal

( October 28, 2019, 22:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Banks would no longer have to hold initial margin for uncleared swaps with affiliates under a rule proposed by the US Federal Reserve and four other agencies. “Inter-affiliate swaps typically are used for internal risk management purposes, by transferring risk to a centralized risk management function within the firm,” the agencies said. “The proposal would give firms additional flexibility to allocate collateral internally, supporting prudent risk management strategies that support safety and soundness.”Statement follows in full. ...
