GAO urges White House to heed economic impact of climate change

( October 24, 2017, 17:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Government Accountability Office recommended that the White House Office of Science and Technology and Council on Environmental Quality factor climate risks into federal decision-making. Despite President Donald Trump's Executive Order 13783 last March, which rescinded the government's Climate Action Plan and revoked an executive order establishing the Council on Climate Preparedness and Resilience, GAO said the Executive Office of the President should establish a strategy to "identify, prioritize, and guide federal investments to enhance resilience against future disasters." Over the last decade, extreme weather and fire events have cost the federal government more than $350 billion and those costs "will likely rise as the climate changes," the report said.See document below....
