CFTC should streamline swaps trade reporting to match global standards: Commissioner Quintenz

By Neil Roland ( February 2, 2018, 18:43 GMT | Insight) -- The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission should simplify derivative trade reporting so it conforms with upcoming global standards and makes it easier to add up banks’ risk exposure across jurisdictions, Commissioner Brian Quintenz said. Quintenz, a Republican who heads the technology advisory committee, said the CFTC should propose new data fields for the millions of reports of transaction counterparties, price, amount and duration that are filed annually to repositories. “Without a certain degree of homogeneity, it is simply impossible for the data to be aggregated globally,” he said in a speech in New York.The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission should simplify derivative trade reporting so it conforms with upcoming global standards and makes it easier  to add up banks’ risk exposure across jurisdictions, Commissioner Brian Quintenz said....
