French listed companies urged not to infringe shareholder rights despite Covid-19

( November 25, 2020, 10:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: French listed companies may have infringed shareholders' rights to ask oral questions by holding general meetings in private due to Covid-19 restrictions, the national financial markets authority has said. Some companies didn't offer a webcast of proceedings, and none allowed electronic voting, the AMF study said. Information on performance criteria for pay and bonuses wasn't detailed enough, in particular when recommending a pay hike following a merger, the review said. Third-party "proxy advisors" who issue guidance on how investors should vote were invited to published details of any conflicts of interest in an annual report, under new French legislation.Statement follows.
