Broker research-unbundling rules to be tweaked in UK trading, transparency rules, FCA says

By Fiona Maxwell ( April 28, 2021, 12:57 GMT | Insight) -- Controversial rules that require brokers to "unbundle" payments for market research from transaction fees will be amended in the UK, as the country's financial services regulator makes post-Brexit changes to the EU's MiFID II rules. The FCA has proposed an exemption to the research-unbundling rules for fund managers with a market capitalization not exceeding 200 million pounds. Brussels, meanwhile, has opted for a 1 billion-euro threshold.Rules requiring brokers to separate payments for market research will be tweaked in the UK version of trading and transparency rules to provide an exemption for smaller companies, the Financial Conduct Authority said today (see here)....
