Update on UK bank-signature forgery campaign requested by lawmakers in letter to FCA, NCA

( October 15, 2020, 12:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Allegations of bank staff forging signatures is the topic of a letter from lawmakers to the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and National Crime Agency, with the UK Parliament’s Treasury Committee today writing to the bodies to request an update. The committee originally wrote to the FCA and NCA in July 2019, asking them to engage with the campaign following allegations of potential criminal activity at banks, after reports of home-repossession orders being signed by unauthorized signatories. Mel Stride, chair of the Treasury Committee, has now requested an update from FCA and NCA chiefs, seeking more information on how the regulators have engaged with the campaign.The statement follows.
