The authority is examining whether the e-KYC process was being used to open payments bank accounts without users’ consent, and allegations that these accounts were linked to the distribution of LPG subsidies. UIDAI said the companies were obligated to ensure the security and privacy of citizens’ identity information, which remained a sensitive issue, aspects of which were being looked into by the Supreme Court....
