Judge enters injunction barring American Express from enforcing anti-steering provisions

( April 30, 2015, 20:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis has entered a permanent injunction barring American Express from enforcing its non-discrimination provisions, which the judge previously found violate US antitrust law. American Express and US Department of Justice prosecutors had offered competing proposals and Garaufis said he largely sided with the government. The injunction will require Amex to make merchants aware of their rights to steer to other forms of payment, including debit cards, and adopts the DOJ's requested compliance provisions. The injunction will go into effect in 30 days.See document below....
