UK borders should be ready for all scenarios by March 2019, PAC warns

( December 8, 2017, 00:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK government should start to prepare borders for the possibility of a no-deal scenario and for the costs of all potential options by March 2019, the Public Affairs Committee has warned. The PAC added that government departments shouldn't assume there will be a transitional period to develop the new infrastructure that might be required. "We were deeply concerned by the lack of progress on this backup plan," said committee chair Meg Hillier. The PAC has also called for a detailed plan for managing the border to be speeded up, in the event of a no-deal scenario, demanding to see this plan by June 2018.Full statement follows:...
