CMA clarifies appeals procedure and powers in cases involving Payment Systems Regulator

( August 18, 2017, 16:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Competition and Markets Authority has published procedural rules for handling appeals to decisions in competition cases involving the Payment Systems Regulator. The Payment Systems Regulator and the CMA have legal powers to cooperate and investigate competition cases. The CMA opened a consultation in June on draft rules providing information and guidance to companies interested in appealing decisions. The CMA has powers to substitute Payment Systems Regulator decisions with its own or refer them back to the regulator with directions to reconsider. It has now published the rules, along with the results of its consultation. It received one response, from Visa Europe, and has made clarifications of points accordingly. The full text of the rules, consultation response and Visa's response are attached...
