EU’s banking union still faces hurdles among governments, Donohoe says

( May 23, 2022, 19:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Agreement on a eurozone-wide bank deposit insurance facility has yet to be reached, Ireland’s finance minister said today. In comments following Eurogroup — an informal meeting of eurozone finance ministers — Paschal Donohoe said he had to “acknowledge that differences of views remain.” But he said this is to be expected at this point in the process, and called for an agreement to be reached on the controversial risk-sharing mechanism. Donohoe said he would make a further push in June to find an agreement, and that he would aim for an agreement among eurozone governments then.Remarks attached....
