UK life insurance market probed by City watchdog

( August 28, 2024, 08:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK Financial Conduct Authority has opened a probe into Britain's life insurance market, following concerns that consumers aren't being provided with fair-value products. The FCA said it would conduct a study into the selling of pure-protection insurance, which is designed to help individuals and their families with their finances when the policyholder dies, or becomes unable to meet financial commitments. The study begin later this year or in early 2025. “Consumers should be able to buy products which meet their needs and provide fair value. We have seen indications that this may not be the case across the pure-protection market,” said Sheldon Mills, the FCA's executive director of consumers and competition.Statement follows....
