Criminal-cartel educational efforts are among New Zealand regulatory priorities for 2019-2020

( July 24, 2019, 22:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The education of businesses about New Zealand’s new criminal-cartel laws will be among the eight priorities of the country’s competition regulator over the coming year. In a speech outlining the areas of focus, Commerce Commission Chair Anna Rawlings said that the new plan also includes a drive to connect with other regulators around the world in a bid to increasing the watchdog’s “understanding and effectiveness as a regulator and as one small part of a wider New Zealand and global regulatory system.” Speaking at a conference in Auckland, Rawlings announced the list of priorities, which include the completion of the fuel-market study. New Zealand’s criminal-cartel legislation came into effect this year but includes a two-year grace period to allow businesses to better understand the impact of the laws.Commerce Commission statement follows; Commece Commission list of priorities and full Anna Rawlings speech are attached. ...
