Dishonesty ruling excludes former UK Barclays exec Kalaris from Saranac CEO role

( August 27, 2024, 12:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thomas Kalaris, the former head of Barclays Wealth, has been banned from taking up a position as chief executive of UK wealth manager Saranac Partners. Kalaris was found to have misled the Financial Conduct Authority in two interviews in 2013 and 2014, and the FCA refused his application to lead Saranac in 2022 on the grounds he wasn't a “fit and proper” person. Saranac appealed to the upper tribunal of the Tax and Chancery Chamber, which today upheld the FCA’s decision. The tribunal said Kalaris had been dishonest and lacked candor.
