No decision on retail investors’ access to long-term asset fund, UK FCA’s Rathi says

( November 24, 2022, 10:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The new long-term asset fund, or LTAF, is restricted to professional investors, and no decision has yet been made on whether to broaden its distribution to retail investors, Nikhil Rathi, the UK Financial Conduct Authority chief executive, has said. In a letter to lawmakers dated earlier this month and published today, Rathi told UK Parliament’s Treasury Sub-Committee that additional protections would be put in place to prevent investors from taking excessive risks if the regulator decides to go ahead with its proposal to expand the LTAF to retail investors. Rathi was responding to an earlier letter from the committee, which raised concerns that it may not be appropriate for smaller investors to access the LTAF.Letters attached....
