European stock trades must be carried out on EU-recognized venues, ESMA says

( November 13, 2017, 17:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: European stock traders that transmit orders through chains of intermediaries must ensure that final execution is carried out on EU-approved markets or trading platforms, the European Securities and Markets Authority said. In guidance on how to apply rules taking effect on Jan. 3, ESMA said that the question-and-answer document aims to clarify the matter as the EU has yet to recognize any trading venues outside the bloc.The text of the statement follows....
