Equifax, other consumer reporting agencies need improved federal oversight, GAO report says

( March 26, 2019, 17:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Federal oversight should be improved over Equifax and other consumer rating agencies, the Government Accountabilty Office said in a report. The GAO recommended that Congress consider giving the US Federal Trade Commission authority to bring fines for violations of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau consider data security risks when prioritizing its examinations of these companies.See documents below....
