​​‘Significant number’ of EU banks bump up against leverage ratio, EBA says

( March 2, 2016, 16:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: “A significant number” of EU banks would face constraints on their business under a planned leverage ratio, the European Banking Authority said in a periodic report on lenders’ capital levels. The EBA meanwhile found that a sample group of big EU banks collectively narrowed their equity shortfall to 1 billion euros, as of mid-2015, compared to the target level due in 2019.
