UK border systems not ready for no-deal Brexit, official audit finds

( February 28, 2019, 10:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Six out of eight most-critical IT systems required for a no-deal Brexit aren't yet ready, an official audit has found. They include systems for the import of animals and high-risk foods; vehicle licence recognition; the calculation of tariffs and the functioning of the Common Transit Convention. The National Audit Office report sets out how the UK has responded to a lack of infrastructure at roll-on roll-off ferry ports by introducing “easements,” including deferred customs declarations, which will “prioritise flow over compliance activity.”  The UK government has given a “red” rating to trader readiness, with half of small businesses yet to take any action to prepare for a  no-deal.Report attached....
