StratFS sued by US, state financial regulators for fraud, running illegal debt-relief enterprise

( January 19, 2024, 17:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: New York Attorney General Letitia James, the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and a multistate coalition of six attorneys general sued StratFS and related shell companies for running an illegal debt-relief enterprise and defrauding consumers. The suit alleged that StratFS tricked their consumers into paying large fees by claiming that the company’s law firms would negotiate down their debts, when most of the negotiations were done by non-attorneys.See statement below....
