US Fed nominee Shelton draws sharp criticism from Senate banking panel’s top Democrat

( July 21, 2020, 19:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Federal Reserve nominee Judy Shelton, an adviser to President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, would help make the economy even worse if confirmed by the Senate, said the Senate banking committee’s top Democrat, Sherrod Brown. “When we have no leadership from our president, and the Federal Reserve chair is one of the only leaders trying to guide our recovery, putting one of the president’s close advisors on the Fed board will only make things worse,” Brown said before the panel’s confirmation vote. The panel voted 13-12 along party lines to send Shelton’s nomination to the full Senate for a final vote.Statement follows....
