EDPB to play 'constructive' part in EU-US data-transfer deal after Privacy Shield annulment

( July 17, 2020, 14:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Data Protection Board, which brings together EU privacy enforcers, said it plans to continue playing a "constructive part" in trying to secure a trans-Atlantic data-transfer arrangement after the EU's top court annulled the US-EU Privacy Shield and confirmed the validity of Standard Contractual Clauses. The EDPB said it "stands ready to provide the European Commission with assistance and guidance to help it build, together with the US, a new framework that fully complies with EU data protection law." Regarding the judgment's statement that EU-based data exporters might have to consider putting in place "additional measures" to those included in the SCCs if they determine that a destination country doesn't provide "an essentially equivalent level of protection," the EDPB said it's "looking further into what these additional measures could consist of."Full statement below:...
