Chinese Supreme Court president holds up critical mirror after former vice president charged with corruption

By Toh Han Shih ( January 7, 2016, 08:24 GMT | Insight) -- The president of the Supreme People’s Court of China, Zhou Qiang, this week made a self-criticism and said lessons must be learned from a corruption case involving the court’s former vice president, Xi Xiaoming. Zhou chaired a meeting of the Chinese Supreme Court on Jan. 4 in which it was acknowledged that there was room for improvement when it came to the Chinese judiciary’s ability to solve problems and make decisions according to the rule of law. It was also said that the judiciary lacked effective policies to improve its governance. Zhou called said the quality of judgements needed to be improved. Zhou said profound lessons should be learned from Xi’s case.
