Putrajaya refuses to give executive powers to anti-corruption agency

( December 2, 2015, 07:14 GMT | Insight) -- Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department Minister Paul Low Seng Kuan says the government will not grant the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, or MACC, full executive powers in corruption cases, the Rakyat Post reports. Responding to a question on the matter from an MP, Kuan said the decision was taken to maintain checks and balances in the investigation of cases and related executive action. He also said practices were similar in almost every country, with arrangements to begin, hold or halt any operations made by the public prosecutor and not by the investigating agency....
