Wave of US CFTC forex fraud cases elicits warnings from top officials

By Neil Roland ( October 3, 2023, 19:20 GMT | Insight) -- The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission has filed a spate of foreign exchange fraud cases this year, prompting admonitions from top officials. “We continue to uncover and vigorously prosecute retail fraud and in Forex,” CFTC Chair Rostin Behnam said in a speech yesterday.  Another commissioner, Kristin Johnson, said: “Couching the investment scheme in forex adds a sheen of exoticism and technical expertise that seems to engender a heightened level of trust among the victims.” But at bottom, the schemes are “too good to be true.” The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission has filed a spate of foreign exchange fraud cases this year, prompting admonitions from top officials....
