New York to receive $800 million from Bank of America settlement

( August 21, 2014, 16:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Bank of America agreed to pay $800 million to New York as part of a record $16.65 billion settlement with the US Department of Justice for charges of mortgage fraud during the financial crisis. The  settlement allocates $300 million in cash and $500 million worth of consumer relief to the state. Bank of America acknowledged it made "serious misrepresentations" to the public in the sale of residential mortgage-based securities by the company and its subsidiaries, including Countrywide Financial and Merrill Lynch.Statement follows in full....
