South Korea revises environmental labelling guidelines to prevent 'greenwashing'

( August 31, 2023, 03:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s guidelines for environmental labelling and consumer protection in e-commerce are set to take effect on Sept. 1, with the Korea Fair Trade Commission revising the guidelines to prevent businesses from making false claims about the environmental friendliness of their products. The enforcement guidelines outline principles and provide examples of activities that are prohibited and likely to violate the law. For example, it is prohibited to advertise a product as entirely eco-friendly when only certain aspects meet those criteria, or to claim environmental benefits without proper verification.
