TCF National Bank sued by CFPB on claims it tricked consumers into costly overdraft services

( January 19, 2017, 17:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: TCF National Bank has been sued by the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which claims that the bank "tricked" consumers into costly overdraft services by obsucring fees and making the overdraft service seem mandatory. The CFPB asks in its complaint that TCF be enjoined from continuing the practices, that it provide relief to consumer by rescinding contracts and paying restitutions, and that it pay a fine.Statement follows.
