Applying the bloc's rules in Norway has helped trade while the country is free to strike free-trade deals with the rest of the world. But while the arrangement might work for Norway, the acceptance of EU rules in return for market access might not be palatable to UK lawmakers, as they consider options for Britain once it has left the bloc.Oda Helen Sletnes, Norway's ambassador to the EU, is a strong advocate of the benefits her country enjoys from being a member of the European Economic Area, a free-trade group.
