Full statement follows: Dublin 28 May 2012 The Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte T.D., today welcomed the call by the European Commission for interested project promoters to submit information on potential projects Projects of Common Interest under the new draft guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure. Minister Rabbitte said, “I welcome this initiative from the European Commission. I urge everyone interested in learning more about it to engage with the Commission directly. There is a critical need for major, cross border, energy infrastructure projects to be delivered for our competitiveness, our growing market for sustainable and renewable energy and our security of supply. To achieve these objectives, we must ensure we have the infrastructure that allows us to be fully integrated with the wider European energy market.”...
