South Korea raises number of large business groups, changes Coupang 'same person'

( April 29, 2026, 03:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Coupang, Dunamu, Kolmar Korea, Orion and Toss are among the groups affected by South Korea’s 2026 large-business-group designations. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said 102 groups will be subject to disclosure rules from May 1, up from 92 a year earlier, while 47 will face tougher cross-shareholding restrictions. Coupang’s controlling person was changed from the corporate entity to founder Bom Kim after the regulator found his brother’s senior role and influence over logistics and delivery policies meant the group no longer met the corporate-designation exemption.
