US SEC proposes two crypto registration exemptions to lure investment to US

By Neil Roland ( August 18, 2026, 21:38 GMT | Insight) -- The US Securities and Exchange Commission proposed two exemptions from registration requirements for investment contracts involving non-security cryptocurrency assets such as Bitcoin and Ether, in an effort to lure these investments to the United States. The “startup exemption” would permit offerings of up to $5 million during a four-year period.
