Trump signs order aimed at promoting mortgage access through community banks

The order, signed Friday, directs the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to target mortgage rules to make it easier for smaller banks to “facilitate more affordable lending,” according to a White House fact sheet.  It also calls for bank regulators to revise guidance to focus on “prudent underwriting” and support construction lending by community banks. President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at promoting access to mortgages through community banks....
